Sheer Working Pleasure

The spectacular fitout for BMW in Jakarta designed by PT Design Phase Indonesia is based on the principles of quality engineering, exceptional design and Teutonic efficiency.

The new office space of BMW in the GKBI Tower is innovative and leading edge commercial space. Influenced by the superior standards employed by BMW as an automotive world leader, the interior design is dynamic and flexible. The design engenders the sort of function and technology that describes BMW.

The first step in the architectural design process involved identifying what BMW wanted and needed the space to do. A series of interviews and meetings with Mr. Jesus Cordoba, the President Director and other key staff, revealed how BMW operates and it uncovered BMW’s commitment to creating a responsive environment where people wanted to spend time. The design had to clearly represent a company which values its work, its people and its architecture.

Like the car, the fitout embodies quality, detail and timeless design. The space planning focused on efficiency of space and fast and efficient communication. The immense use of glass symbolises transparency, the use of stone and stainless steel are used as a symbol of strength and unity, while the detail in design and the choice of the best quality materials confirms BMW’s commitment to delivering only the “best”.

The skill and experience necessary to complete this project’s complexities and co-ordination issues required GGS to select the construction management team carefully. The GGS project manager Mr. Waluyo Hamijaya is an engineering graduate and had 13 years professional experience.

Before commencing on site, the GGS project team established a Safety First culture that had a significant benefit to everyone on the project because it demanded full pre-planning of all work activities therefore reviewing all probable supply and construction problems prior to commencing work.

The result of this pre-planning meant that all working relationships between GGS, BMW PT Design Phase Indonesia, the suppliers and building management were so well developed that the project exceeded its quality and commercial objectives to the satisfaction of all involved.
