NESTLE INDONESIA When Nestle decided to relocate its headquarters from Wisma Metropolitan II to Menara Arkadia, they looked to Christian Malmoux to design a distinctive work environment for this consumer goods leader. The goal was not to build a monument for Nestle, but rather to create an interactive environment where people can work in harmony. The brief implements three simple parameters – quality, function, and security. The lift lobby of the 3rd floor immediately greets the Nestle guest although security doors prevent entry to the office space, the use of frameless glass doors create transparency and interest. The elegant simplicity of the classic Mies Van De Rohe Barcelona chairs create a beautifully functional waiting area gives full aesthetic credit to those famous furniture designs. The reception was purposely located on level three so that you only need to travel two floors up or two floors down. To introduce all Nestle employees to this new layout and circulation concept was a challenge, which had to be tackled function and contemporary design inspire the design of the central internal staircase, created with enough interest to inspire the employees to get used to this new method of office circulation. With only on entry point for 5 levels to accommodate 100 employees is clearly another design challenge. This security system also means that each guest has to be welcomed by a member of the Nestle team before entering the Nestle gallery. The office environment is on both ends of the staircase, and workspaces are built with the intelligent use of Unifor furniture. For over 20 years, Unifor has designed, engineered and developed furniture that understands the needs and dynamics of the workplace. Nestle recognizes that new technology requires furniture that can accommodate change and therefore worked closely with the designer before choosing the system furniture. Nestle’s trend toward management styles that encourage team work and recognize and reward their employees, was the reason behind the “coffee break” areas located on each floor of the atrium. Slim line aluminum bar stools and tall coffee tables provide a place where staff from each level can “take a break” and slip the different products manufactured by Nestle reinforcing the company’s image. |
