TNT An office built on style with a philosophy of clear objectives. TNT is a leader in the express delivery business, with their innovative Country Manager, Colin Moran, whose energy and in-depth knowledge of the business keep the company successfully moving into the future, ready for the challenges of competition, change and an unpredictable economic environment. The TNT management team understands that offices must be flexible to accommodate change and organizations must offer employees comfortable and efficient space to work in. The design brief to CDA International was for an office that represents the high quality service that TNT provides for it’s clients and an office environment that is both comfortable and efficient for the people that help make the company a leader in its field. TNT also asked for something different for their new corporate head quarters, a contemporary design balanced with the unique beauty of Indonesian art and culture. The entrance is lined with luminous walls in TNT’s corporate shade of striking orange that is anchored by a central stainless steel curved reception desk that combines glass, metal work and slatted woodwork. The welcome area comes together with a backlit glazed panel where the TNT logo sits in lights. The curves of the design illustrate TNT’s ability to be flexible to its customer’s needs, while the choice of materials is an architectural expression of corporate stability and presence in the express delivery business. The balances between the tangible and intangible aspects of the TNT business are visible in the design concept with the use of glass. Glass is also used to illustrate transparency of work procedures, a company objective incorporated into the design. All closed offices use glass partitions and managers are located closed to their teams. The success of this project is an example of what a collaborative process between the client, designer and contractor can achieve. By responding to the existing working culture and understanding the needs of each individual department rather than focusing on fixed design plans, GGS was able to meet the quality, cost and delivery objectives. To ensure that the project was delivered on time the GGS team adopted a “whatever it takes” attitude and committed to seven-day working weeks during the final phase leading up to handover. GGS managed the complete fitout and furniture requirements of TNT and offered a Total Solution by having only one principle point of contact. The end result is a space that encourages communication, shared knowledge and teamwork. |
